North Prairie is mostly single-family homes, many of them in newer subdivisions, on flat ground near the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Flat ground sounds easy, but it has a catch. Water has nowhere to run, so after snowmelt or a heavy summer storm it sits in the yard and soaks straight down into the clay. Stable cracks get filled through their depth with hydraulic cement or structural sealant.
