Foundation and waterproofing work in North Prairie
North Prairie is mostly single-family homes, many of them in newer subdivisions, and the ground here is flat. On flat prairie ground, water has nowhere to go after a storm or a quick thaw. It sits in the yard, soaks into the clay, and presses against the foundation until it finds a way in. That's why so many North Prairie homeowners know the sound of their sump pump better than their furnace, and why a thin vertical crack in a poured wall turns into a spring leak.
Those vertical cracks are usually shrinkage from the concrete curing, and we seal them from inside with hydraulic cement or structural sealant.
