Foundation and waterproofing work in Nashotah
Nashotah is a small Lake Country village tucked between the Nashotah lakes, best known as the home of Nashotah House seminary. Many houses sit on wooded lots with the lakes on either side, and that setting has a clear effect underground. When the lakes rise in spring, the groundwater around nearby basements rises with them. Heavy tree cover keeps soil shaded and slow to dry, and roots can crowd old drain lines. A basement that stays dry through a dry summer can take on water at the floor joint the next April.
Relieving that pressure is usually job one. Interior drain tile around the perimeter carries water to a sump crock, and a pump with battery backup keeps going through spring storms and outages. Exterior waterproofing seals a wall from outside when it needs the full treatment. We also seal and brace cracked or bowing walls with carbon fiber or steel, install egress windows, seal walls and joints with a vapor barrier, and set steel support beams.
