Interior Drain Tile for Brown Deer homes
Brown Deer grew fast after the war, and a lot of its ranches and split-levels are now sitting on concrete block basements that are fifty to seventy years old. Block is hollow. Once groundwater gets into the cores, it runs down inside the wall and seeps out at the bottom course, right where the wall meets the slab. Split-level homes add a twist, because the lower level sits partly below grade and often gets finished as a family room.
We install interior drain tile along that joint. A trench goes in along the walls, perforated pipe sits in clean stone under the floor, and small weep holes drilled in the bottom block let trapped water drain out of the cores into the pipe. It all flows to a sump crock with a pump and a battery backup. On a split-level, we plan the runs around the lower level walls that sit deepest in the ground, since that's usually where the seepage starts.
