Foundation Repair for Milwaukee homes
A lot of Milwaukee houses were standing long before anyone poured a basement the way we do it now. Bungalows, Milwaukee duplexes and older brick homes sit on block, brick and even stone walls that have taken frost and wet clay for close to a century. Mortar gets soft, joints open up, and the wall slowly gives. Then a heavy summer storm overloads the sewers, and water finds every one of those weak spots at once.
Old walls need a careful eye. A stone or brick foundation can look alarming with crumbling mortar and still be sound, while a block wall with one clean horizontal crack may be on the move. We check the wall type, measure any bow with a level and a string line, and trace how the storm water gets in before we suggest anything. Structural work comes first, and waterproofing goes on a wall that has stopped moving.
In a duplex, that often means working around two households, two sets of storage and a shared laundry corner. We plan the job so both units keep living normally upstairs. The repair might be hydraulic cement or structural sealant in the cracks, carbon fiber straps on a wall that has just started to lean, or steel I-beams anchored from floor to joist when the bow is serious.
