Foundation and waterproofing work in Hales Corners
Hales Corners is a small village tucked between Greendale, Franklin, Greenfield and New Berlin, and it's mostly single-family homes on quiet streets. A good share of those houses sit on concrete block basements, and block walls have a habit of telling you when they're unhappy. Mortar joints crack in a stair-step line, a white crust shows up along the lower courses, and after a wet spring a wall can start to lean inward. That's the kind of basement we're usually standing in when we visit Hales Corners.
It's a short drive from our shop on Easy St in Waukesha, so getting out to look is easy and same-week visits are common. Nick or Luis will check the walls, measure any bowing and figure out where water is getting in. Bowing block gets braced with carbon fiber straps or steel beams. Leaks along the floor joint usually call for interior drain tile and a sump pump with battery backup, and exterior waterproofing handles the worst walls from outside. We also put in egress windows and support beams. When the Village of Hales Corners requires a permit, we pull it.
