Foundation and waterproofing work in Greendale
Greendale was planned from scratch in the late 1930s as one of the country's greenbelt villages, and the original homes still give the place its look. Those early houses often sit on small, shallow basements that were built mainly for a furnace, a coal bin and some storage. Eighty-plus years of Wisconsin frost and swelling clay have tested every one of them. We see seepage at the floor joint, old cracks that have opened and closed a hundred times, and walls that were painted over so often nobody remembers what's underneath.
People who own these homes tend to care a lot about keeping them the way they are, and we work that way too. Most of what we do happens from inside the basement: sealing cracks, bracing a wall with carbon fiber or a steel beam, or running interior drain tile to a sump pump so the yard and landscaping stay untouched. When exterior waterproofing is the right call, we dig, fix the wall and put everything back graded. Egress windows can be fitted to suit the house. Where the Village of Greendale requires a permit, we pull it.
